Documentary Film directed by Nicolás Guzmán
"I’d Like You to Live My Youth Again" is the third feature-length and the second documentary directed by Nicolás Guzmán. The film is produced by Francisca Soto, Roberto Doveris and Alicia Scherson. It is an intimate portrait of both an administrative worker woman in her sixties and a non-binary student from the University of Chile, where Guzman was working as Chief of career. The project was funded by a CreArt grant and will has its world premiere at Sanfic International Film Festival.
Logline
Victoria is a secretary at the Film School where Nerea studies. Although they are very different, in intertwining their stories something else emerges, something in common, which is life itself.
Synopsis
Victoria decides to face a past that she would have preferred to forget, as a man’s love can sometimes become a prison. Putting her life into words may be a tough task, but at the same time it is necessary in order to understand who she is. Meanwhile, Nerea lives their youth to the fullest, making a series of decisions of which the outcome is unknown to them. A family, a job or a salary are no longer desirable. Nerea is better off earning their money by occasionally going out with men.

Director's Biography:
Nicolás is a professor at the Film and Television School of the University of Chile, where he also completed his undergraduate as a filmmaker and a Master’s degree in Visual Arts. His work as a filmmaker has been primarily as a director, in the areas of documentary and experimental film. In 2016 he premiered his first feature-length documentary, entitled “If You Listen Carefully”, and in 2018 in the Rebels With a Cause section at PÖFF was the premiere of his experimental feature film “Potential Victim”.

Director's Note
“The documentary “I’d Like You to Live My Youth Again” arose while I was carrying out the role of administrator at the University of Chile Film School, and Victoria, secretary. Afternoons tend to feel long at that institution, which was especially true during times of the year when Victoria and I were the only souls in the building. Seemingly insignificant conversations, accompanied by mechanical tasks, ended up leading to getting to know one another better. Life has not been easy for her. She reminded me of other women whom I have met that manage to find the necessary strength to persevere in this world, in love, and not in selfishness. This is something that I still have not come to fully comprehend, but that inspires my deep admiration. I proposed to Victoria that we make a documentary about her life. The plan consisted in making a film that would disarticulate the idea that the world is divided into protagonists and secondary characters. The core of the film is ending with the logic that there are people who are interesting and others who are simply not. Daily life has its own epic. It may sometimes seem plain, but it is precisely within it that we recognize ourselves.
Later, Victoria and I decided to invite a film student to participate as a character, who was living their own youth at that time and who will act as a counterpoint to Victoria’s narrative. But this character also allowed us to satisfy our curiosity toward getting to know the life of the “other” with whom we are destined to interact on a daily basis: "The Student".

Presentación del proyecto: "Me gustaría que vivieras mi juventud de nuevo" es el tercer largometraje de Nicolás Guzmán, y su segundo documental, producido por Francisca Soto, Roberto Doveris y Alicia Scherson. Se trata de un retrato íntimo en handycam de una funcionaria y de une estudiante de la Universidad de Chile, donde Guzmán trabajó como Jefe de Carrera. El proyecto fue financiada por el Fondo CreArt y tendrá su estreno mundial en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Santiago SANFIC.
Logline: Victoria es secretaria de la Escuela de Cine en la que Nerea estudia. Si bien ella y Nerea son muy distintes, al entrecruzar sus historias en la película surge algo nuevo, algo en común.
Sinopsis: Victoria decide enfrentar una juventud que había preferido olvidar, pues el amor de un hombre a veces se vuelve una prisión. Poner su vida en relato puede ser una tarea dura, pero al mismo tiempo necesaria para entender quién es. Por otro lado, Nerea está tomando una serie de decisiones que no sabe a dónde le llevarán, ganándose la vida saliendo de forma ocasional con hombres. El mundo ha cambiado, y sus expectativas de vida son muy distintas a las que alguna vez pudo haber tenido Victoria en su juventud.
Biofilmografía Director: Nicolás es académico de la Escuela de Cine y Televisión de la Universidad de Chile. Casa de estudios donde se formó como realizador y Magister en Artes Visuales. Su trabajo como realizador ha sido principalmente como director, en las áreas de documental y experimental. El 2016 estrenó su primer largometraje documental titulado “Si Escuchas Atentamente” y el 2018 estrenó en la sección Rebels With a Cause de PÖFF, su largometraje experimental “Víctima Potencial”.
Nota de dirección: "El documental surgió mientras me desempeñaba como funcionario de la Escuela de Cine de la Universidad de Chile y Victoria, como secretaria. Las tardes se pueden hacer muy largas en ese lugar, sobre todo en esos momentos del año cuando Victoria y yo éramos las únicas almas en el edificio. Las conversaciones aparentemente insignificantes, acompañadas de tareas mecánicas, terminaron por hacer que llegáramos a conocernos bien. La vida no había sido fácil para ella, me recordaba a otras mujeres que he conocido, las cuales encuentran la fuerza necesaria para perseverar en este mundo, en el amor y no así en el egoísmo. Eso es algo que no logro comprender del todo, pero que despierta una profunda admiración en mi.
Luego de un tiempo le propuse a Victoria que hiciéramos un documental sobre su vida; el plan consistió en hacer una película que desarticulara la idea de que el mundo está ordenado por personajes protagónicos y personajes secundarios, y así acabar con la lógica de que hay gente interesante y otra que simplemente no lo es. La vida cotidiana tiene su propia épica, a veces esta parece sencilla, pero es justamente en ella donde podemos reconocernos. Juntos decidimos invitar a participar como personaje a une estudiante de cine, que estuviera en este momento viviendo su juventud y que actuará como contrapunto al relato de Victoria. Pero que también nos permitiera satisfacer una curiosidad, conocer la vida de ese otro con que nos toca interactuar día a día: el estudiante de cine.
